Nomads Sky - Update #03


I started with the new sector system for the universe generation. A sector is a hand-made area with some randomized elements (like the new asteroid fields)in it. The player can jump to the next sector via a jump gate. Jump gates will make it into one of the next updates. 


FEATURE

  • I implemented an offline mode for the player ship. This is similar to stun, whenever the ship receives too much damage, the ship's systems are offline for a certain amount of time, and the player has no control over the ship.
  • The bigger versions of asteroids are spawning smaller asteroids when destroyed.

  • I implemented a power level system for the ship's subsystems. Selecting one increases the efficiency of the subsystem by 100% and decreases the efficiency of the other 2 subsystems by 25%.  The engine for instance has more thrust strength, the processor reduced oxygen consumption, and the laser improved damage and range.

UI

  • The subsystem UI was overhauled. It looks much cleaner now and the important information is easier to spot.
  • The account info panel was overhauled too. It shows the nomad's id, the clone number, and how many painite tickets the player has. Painite Tickets are replacing the credits and can be used later to buy new things, like ships, upgrades, etc.
  • I added a message panel above the cargo section, where some recent events are shown.
  • I removed the central "circle UI" around the player ship and moved it into the general player hud.
  • I added a painite delivered message to the player hud

  • The delivery drones received a particle effect when they despawn.
